Business Health-checks – Improvement and Objectivity

In today’s business climate, the need for correct governance and achieving relevant and effective customer engagement has never been more in focus. However, most media agencies still operate and report on traditional metrics in analysing campaign performance. Increasingly media performance should be focused on the marketer’s business and communications requirements and less so on theoretical media metrics such as gross TARPS, effective reach and frequency etc.

Whether the marketer’s business task is about customer acquisition, retention or conversion, the challenges for media agencies and media companies should be to primarily focus on those results. Frequently we see post analysis reports based on placement accountability and whether the agency delivered their self-set reach and frequency goals rather than reporting on business metrics and results. This information should be used for learning’s and determining what works and what doesn’t with what is often the marketer’s second largest budget investment item.
